Louise C. Godwin (nee Wagner), 98, passed away on October 3, 2025 in Libertyville.
Born on October 10, 1926 to John and Gertrude Wagner, Louise spent her childhood years on a farm in McHenry. She married Harold Godwin in 1944 and settled in Mundelein. Harold sadly passed away in 1958.
Louise worked at St. Mary of the Lake Seminary, Mundelein for over 21 years in the Housekeeping Department while raising 4 children in the Mundelein house she would reside in for nearly 71 years. Louise had a hard work ethic that shone through her years at the Seminary and passed down to all of her children. She was also a member of Santa Maria del Popolo Church in Mundelein and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Libertyville.
Louise loved gardening, her martinis, playing golf, dancing and surrounding herself with family. Her house was the host of many memorable Christmas Eve and Fourth of July parties for her extended Godwin Family. Louise also loved food and always made her famous "Grandma Godwin" lasagna every Christmas Eve. Besides her stunning garden and famous lasagna, her greatest pride and joy was her big extended family of four generations.
Louise is survived by her children, Roger (Lynne) Godwin, Sandra Kline, and Lawrie (Jenny) Godwin, 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Theresa Seibert, many nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Gertrude, husband Harold Godwin, grandson Roger Godwin, Jr., son-in-law Dennis Kline, son Harold "Butch" Godwin and daughter-in-law Robin Godwin. She was also preceded in death by her 8 Wagner brothers and sisters, Ralph, Leroy, Caroline, Dorothy, Marie, Albert, Joe and Urban.
The family would like to thank the staff at Suncrest Hospice, Avantara of Libertyville and Libertyville Manor for their loving care and kindness during the last few years.
