Lucky Bill Wells, of Bartow, Florida went to be with his Lord on Wednesday March 27, 2024, at the age of eighty-one. Lucky was born on March 13, 1943, in Avon Park, Florida to his parents Willie Thomas Wells and Mazie Pearl Wells (Jones) and grew up with his ten siblings.
Lucky accomplished a great many things in his life, he proudly served in the United States Army for twenty-one years. In those twenty-one years he served with the 82nd Airborne and the 25th infantry. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967 earning two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He later on was recognized as the top Army recruiter in the United States from 1977-1978.
Upon retiring from the United States Army, he went on to continue serving his community as a United States Postal Service Employee, where he later retired.
Lucky loved to fish, in his mind, there was nothing better than sitting in his boat, adrift, line in the water and letting life ease on by. Lucky was a member of the Lakeland Bassmasters and the Winter Haven Lunker Lovers for over twenty years. He also loved golfing, hunting, relaxing while watching TV and playing poker. He enjoyed homemade southern meals, banana pudding, ice cream, and spending time with his son, bonding while smoking cigars.
Once a year Lucky would attend a family reunion with his beloved brothers at the River Ranch Wells Boy’s Annual Reunion Throwdown. Lucky and his brothers have kept this tradition going every year for twenty years and was especially important to him.
Family and friends held a dear place in his heart, and he would often put others before himself. He was well known for his outgoing personality and willingness to go the extra mile for others.
Lucky is survived by his Brothers; Dale and Howard Wells, Sister; Joan Wells, Daughters; Laura Corley, Tracy A. Wells, Stephanie W. Wells, Son; Eric L. Wells and Grandchildren; Christopher T. Wells, Cody A. Wells, Courtney R. Wells, Ashlyne R. Wells, Peyton E. Wells, Journey Wells, Michael L. Wells and Chandler G. Davis. Lucky is preceded in death by his beloved late wife, Linda Wells, Brothers; Harold Wells, Tommy Wells, Curtis Wells, Alfred Wells, Aubrey Wells, Raymond Wells Sr. Sister; Evon Smith, and his Parents.
Lucky touched many lives in many ways and will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to aid in the effort of the conservation of fish and wildlife.

Sure am sorry to hear about Lucky. Went to school with him in Avon Park. He’s at peace I’m sure. Prayers for the family.
