Mark A Toillion, 63, of Ruthven, passed away on Wednesday, April 17th, 2024, at Ava’s House, a skilled hospice facility, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, after a four-year battle with cancer.
Mark worked a number of years for Schwan’s Company as a salesman, earning such honors as President’s Club, which was compromised of the most elite sales reps. In September 2022, Mark retired from Fisher Gold Star to spend more time doing what he enjoyed; spending time with friends and family, fishing, hunting, boating, and gardening.
When Mark wasn’t in a boat fishing, in a blind hunting deer and turkey, or walking tall grass with Stella hunting quail and pheasant, you could find Mark in his ‘Man Cave’ watching NASCAR and sports. His love of cooking and trying new recipes will be truly missed by those lucky enough to sample his creations. Mark was looking forward to another summer with brother Kevin going camping and fishing near Waubay, South Dakota.
Mark will be dearly missed by his mother Nancy Toillion of Normal, IL; daughter Amy (Shannon) McCrary and his grandchildren, Gunnar and Grady, of Pattonsburg, MO; brother Kevin Toillion of Ruthven; three sisters, Suzanne (Bill) Hilgendorf of Mount Carroll, IL, Donna (Mike) Stevenson of Monticello, IL, Mary (Val) Walker of Normal, IL; sister-in-law Kim Toillion of El Paso, IL; numerous nieces and nephews; many friends and neighbors; and his faithful canine hunting companion, Stella.
Mark was preceded in death by his father Lawrence Toillion, brother Brett Toillion, sister-in-law Karen Toillion, brother-in-law Elmer Gerlach, and nephew Blake Stevenson.
A very special ‘Thank You’ to sister Suzanne for always being there thru treatments, surgeries, and his final weeks. We’re also grateful for the many compassionate nurses and doctors at Ava’s House and the Sanford Cancer Center.

Sorry to hear of Mark's passing. He liked to be outdoors and joined us for some good stories. He fought the good fight over the last few years and now will be checking out some new territory. Our prayers are with his family,

Unable to express the loss of a class member that I went to school with yet again. My soul aches each day another leaves our plane. My sympathy goes to the family.
