Nathan Trowbridge Obituary

Nathan Issac Trowbridge, 67, of Mesick, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 17, 2025, at his home. He was born on October 14, 1958, the son of Lawrence D. and Phyllis B. (Garey) Trowbridge.

Nate bought and successfully ran Nates Country Store, on Hodenpyl Dam Road. He had a big heart and he was always kind to people, helping even if it meant he would go without. Nate was famous for his “Big” Cinnamon Rolls, donuts, and hand-dipped ice cream. He was a wonderful person who always had a smile on his face when anyone would walk in the store. He missed the store and his customers greatly when he sold his business. He was always generous with his services and the community will feel his absence in this world.

He is survived by: his siblings, Elzina Rogers of Mesick, Ralph (Rebekah) Trowbridge of Mesick, Lawrence (Lea) Trowbridge of Kaleva, Edwina (Jerry) Teachout of Mesick, Elaine (Robert) Skantz of Muskegon, and Ellabeth (David) Porter of Mesick; step-brother, Johnny (Tami) Mackie of Manistee; and many nephews, nieces, great-nieces and nephews, and extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his mother, Phyllis B. Trowbridge; father, Lawrence D. Trowbridge; and step-mother, Sandy Trowbridge.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will take place at a later date in the spring.

The Terwilliger Funeral Home, in Kaleva, is in charge of arrangements.

The definition of Pillar is " a person or thing regarded as reliably providing essential support for something" Nate Trowbridge will always be considered a pillar in the place I call home. A lifetime of friendship, with times of laughter and tears, a steadfast voice that always tied me to where I come from. Rest easy Nate, I'll see ya.

Nate was one of the kindest, most caring people I have ever met. Always willing to help anyone, lots of stories to tell and cared immensely for his family. Nate holds a special place in my heart.
Heaven has gained another angel.
Rest in peace Nate.
