Nellie Stokes Obituary

Nellie Lokey Stokes, 86, of Valdosta, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. Born on January 30, 1939 in Lone Oak, Georgia to the late Felton Marion Lokey and Mary Ellen Hill Lokey, Mrs. Stokes had worked and retired from AT&T as a clerk. She loved going fishing with her husband and their friends. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her husband of 67 years and family. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. She loved crafting and spending time outside. Mrs. Stokes was a member of Redland Baptist Church. 

Mrs. Stokes is survived by her husband, Albert Lewis Stokes, Sr.; her son Albert L. Stokes, Jr. and his wife Pamela, of Smith Station, AL; her daughter Debra (Debbie) Duke and her husband Jim, of Goldsboro, NC; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; along with her sister Mary Frances Lokey Jones, of Titusville, FL; brother K.L. (Ken) Lokey and his wife Earlene, of Valdosta, GA; and two sisters-in-law, Bobbie Lokey and Phyllis Lokey. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Juanita Marion Lokey Courson, Ruth Ethel Lokey Downing, Horace Felton Lokey, and Terry Lee Lokey. 

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Redland Baptist Church with Rev. Clyde Stokes and Rev. Jay Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Redland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11am.
