Pearl Elizabeth Kendall, daughter of Robert and Anna (Kirtz) Kendall, was born December 26th, 1917, in Mallard, Iowa. She attended St. Mary's until 11th grade and graduated from Mallard Community High School.
On February 9th, 1942, Pearl was united in marriage to Joseph Hood. They had one daughter.
Pearl worked at Clifton's Cafe before marriage. She also worked as a Mallard postal clerk during the war. She worked with Joe when they started farming.
Pearl belonged to the Red Hat Society, St. Mary's Christian Mother's, attended Mass almost daily, sang in the St. Mary's choir and volunteered on both the Emmetsburg Hospital Board and on the Mallard library board.
She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and participated in three act plays for the church and other community activities. She and her sisters Genevieve and Frances had a trio and sang for bridal showers and other places when asked. They did this until Fran moved later to Minnesota.
She enjoyed walking on the country roads and in Mallard when they moved to town. She love playing cards, especially Bridge, 500, and Pinochle.
Pearl passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Emmetsburg Care Center at the age of 106. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 11 siblings, son -in-law, and two grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, two grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Pearl was a wonderful friend and neighbor to both Leora and my mom. She was so fun to be around. A lot of good memories! Carl and I are thinking of you, Jo.

So glad I got to spend some time with Aunt Pearl the afternoon before she passed.
Pearl was a hoot! She had a great sense of humor and always a smile.
She was the last of that generation of the Kendal line. Rest in peace Pearl. My thoughts and prayers are with you Jolene and family.
