Robert "Bob" Pugh Obituary

Robert Gray Pugh "Bob", 84, of Denton, passed away on September 4, 2024, in Denton,
Texas. He was born on August 18, 1940, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Jessie and Sara (Cunningham) Pugh.

After graduating from Tuscaloosa High School, he attended the University of Alabama, receiving a bachelor's degree in business administration. From a young age, he became involved in aviation and worked as a crop duster, flight instructor, and test pilot for Cessna. In 1963, he was hired on by Delta Airlines in Atlanta, GA. In his career with Delta Airlines, he worked his way from Flight Engineer to Captain and, after 33 years, retired in 1996. While flying with Delta, he relocated to the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas, where he met his wife, Gayleta Little. They were married in Denton, Texas, on August 16, 1975, and have just celebrated their 49th anniversary.

Together, they started a second career operating a Simmental cattle Ranch in Sanger, Texas. Bob continued further education at Texas Christian University, completing their Ranch Management Program and taking courses at Tarleton State University focusing on early computer management for farming and ranching operations. After the birth of their son, Robert Jr., they relocated to Denton, Texas.

In retirement, Bob and his family built a wonderful lake house on Lake Cypress Springs in East Texas. A place that he greatly enjoyed with family and friends. In 2002, Bob and Gay opened up Woods of Mission Timber Ltd. In Sanger. A sawmill and specialty wood business specializing in the same materials used in building their lake place. Together, they ran the company until 2016.

Bob remained active in general aviation most of his life. He enjoyed hunting, spending time at the lake, and woodworking and was an avid reader.

Bob is survived by his wife, Gay, of Denton; son, Robert Jr., and wife, LaDawna, of Oklahoma City; granddaughters, Ava and Alivia, of Oklahoma City; sister, Judy Pugh Piel, and nephew Rick Piel, both of Tuscaloosa, AL.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father.

The family would like to thank Golden Meadows Assisted Living and Visiting Nurse Association Hospice and their staff members in Denton
