Ronald Linn Obituary
Alamogordo, NM - Ronald W. Linn, a devoted husband, father, and decorated Marine, passed away at the age of 89 on September 26, 2024, in Alamogordo, NM. Born on September 7, 1935, in San Saba, TX to Alice and Jack Linn, Ron dedicated his life to serving his country and his community with unwavering honor, courage, and commitment, values that defined his character both during and after his military career.
Ron proudly served in his beloved United States Marine Corps from 1954 until his retirement in 1974. During his enlistment, he was a Drill Sergeant at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC, where he shaped young recruits into Marines, instilling in them the virtues of the Corps. He was a Vietnam War veteran, serving three tours in Vietnam. After retiring from active duty, Ron continued to embody the spirit of a Marine, often seen wearing apparel that bore "USMC Retired" as a badge of honor.
After his military career, Ron continued to impact his community through his roles in security, retail management, and most notably, in early childhood education. Ron, alongside his beloved wife, Linda, directed the Cloudcroft Methodist Preschool. Who better to deal with a group of four and five-year-olds than a retired Marine drill sergeant?!?! Their commitment to early childhood education was further demonstrated when they moved to Alamogordo and opened The Pre-K Academy. Ron's leadership skills, honed in the Marines, proved invaluable in both educational endeavors, leaving a lasting impact on the community.
Ron is survived by his beautiful wife, Linda K. Linn; his son, Shane Linn and wife, Brigette of Colorado Springs; daughters, Saterra "Terra" Linn, and Nicole "Nik" Linn, both of Alamogordo; and three granddaughters, Kenzi Linn, Kalei Ponder, and Rayne Linn. He also leaves behind his grumpy cat, Mittens Linn.
A faithful attendee of Grace Methodist Church in Alamogordo, Ron will be remembered not only for his distinguished military service and educational leadership but also for his profound influence on both his family and the many lives he touched. His legacy of steadfast service and love will endure in the hearts of those who knew him.
