Roy Thompson Obituary

Roy Alvin Thompson age 79, of Avon Park, Florida peacefully passed away Friday August 16, 2024. He was born May 10, 1945, to Chandler and Mary Rilla (Meeks) Thompson. Roy owned and operated Thompson’s Auto Service in Avon Park, was of Baptist Faith, and has been a lifelong resident of Avon Park. He is survived by his daughter – Kerri Bryant and Derek Bryant of Avon Park; Grandchildren – Dawson, Kaden, and Cooper. Step-Daughter Felicia Wilder (Brian) Jacob and Sarah Dyer, Kodie and Koda Martin. 

He is preceded in death by his Wife – Dee Thompson; Step-son – Patrick Martin; Mother - Mary Rilla Thompson; Father - Chandler Thompson; Brother – Theron Thompson; and Sister – Faye Thompson. 

Roy loved being on the greens playing golf or bowling. His true love was being an avid business owner and mechanic at his shop in Avon Park. In his leisure time you could always catch him watching golf and football or feeding his shop cats. Roy was a proud family man, and you could always find a smile on his face when speaking about his family. Roy loved being a part of the community and giving back via sponsorships throughout Avon Park. 

His legacy will be carried on. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 31st, 2024, at 5:30 pm.
