Ryan Trimble Obituary

Ryan Trimble passed away on Christmas Eve of 2024. He was born in Nederland, Texas, the oldest son of Ryan Joseph and Geraldine Trimble.  He graduated from Lamar University with a degree in economics.  He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Trimble of Blanco, Texas, his brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Diana Trimble of Katy, Texas, and his sister, Suzy Richards of Lumberton, Texas.

Music was Ryan’s passion. He and two of his friends owned a theater called Liberty Hall where they produced the best plays and musical shows in Houston for $2.00 a ticket. In 2016, Ryan was asked to participate in a project at Rice University about the music scene in Houston.  His oral history is now in the archives of Rice University. You can see Ryan telling great stories and talking about his music career—just google “Ryan Trimble Rice University Interview.”

Ryan was the mayor of Blanco from May of 1991 until April of 1997. He got all the streets paved, computerized City Hall, and built up the police department. He fought against the burning of hazardous waste in cement kilns in the Hill Country. During the drought of ‘99, he had three wells dug along the river, pumping water into the river and keeping the water plant working to deliver water to all the homes and businesses in Blanco. One of the grants he got built the water tower on the north side of town. He enjoyed being the mayor and being able to help out the citizens of Blanco.

Ryan's connection with our family began in Nederland High School with my wife, Cheri Clotiaux, now Stringer.
Ryan and I first met at Lamar University in an old shack of a weight room while we were working out. He was the first person I had met who might know something about a bright and beautiful young lady I had met, as the President of Nederland High School's student body named Cheri Clotiaux. Ryan couldn't say enough good things, but warned her father was a boxer and coached boxing in Nederland. Obviously, that didn't deter me, but certainly got my attention.
Many years later Ryan was our life insurance agent, including a period when he was Mayor of Blanco, Texas, at least from what I recall. We visited many times in Austin, and once in Blanco, but dates don't come to mind. Ryan "marched to his own drummer", and we always enjoyed his presents. It's sad to learn such a unique person is no longer with us. We visited Blanco this month and couldn't help but wish Ryan and Dorthy could have shared our time there.

Ryan was and his family were neighbors when we were growing up in Nederland. He became a better friend in our senior years when we both had time to visit. My husband and I attended many things at Liberty Hall not knowing our friend Ryan was in the office. He not only provided entertainment in the evenings but during the day he often fed the neighborhood with red beans and rice. He worked to get artists that were damaging their wellbeing with bad habits to lead clean lives. I will miss him and his visits so much. Jane Ann
