Sarah Margaret Finch, 86 of Chipley, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on October 8, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Sarah was born on March 31, 1939 in Winter Garden, Florida to Mardis S. Bass and Ora Lee Sheffield Bass. Sarah was a kind, loving, compassionate woman. Her love knew no boundaries for her family. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was “Mema” to all of her grandchildren and countless others throughout the community. She was strong in her faith and always talked about Jesus. Sarah was Baptist by faith and a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her son: Lesley Finch, daughter-in-law: Linda Finch, grandson: Robert Beare, seven sisters, and six brothers.
She is survived by her two sisters, two sons: James Finch of Tallahassee, FL and Dennis Lee Finch (Terri) of Ocala, FL, three daughters: Margaret Graham (David) of Ashford, AL, Faye Brant (Chris) of Marianna, FL, and Lee Helms (Howard) of Chipley, FL, 14 grandkids, 31 great grands, 3 great, great grands, a host of nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Wanda Finch.
Service will be held 1 PM Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Obert Funeral Home Chapel (731 Kirkland Road) with Bro. Don Milton and Bro. Benjamin Sutton officiating. Interment will follow in Wachob Cemetery in Chipley, Florida. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.
The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at Obert Funeral Home Chapel.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Emerald Coast Hospice and Hailey for the compassionate and loving care to her.

I m so sorry I forgot to say Howard was her son-love and your Daughter Mrs Lee did a beautiful job coaching Cheerleading she taught my daughter so much!! Also when they were in charge over the city leagues they were wonderful! So blessed to know this family!!

What a beautiful woman inside and out! She will be missed by so many including our family! She was kind and thoughtful to all! There wasn’t a softball game that I’m aware of that she missed when my daughter Tiffany played softball that her son Howard and the other great coaches that did a wonderful job coaching!
Also all the city ball when city ball; football and Mrs Lee coached Cheerleading which my daughter Tiffany was a part of!
We were blessed to know her! To me she was a true inspiration and example what a Christian is to be!!
