William “Lawrence” Fletcher, 88 passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Knox City, Texas. Officiating will be Charles Wayne Howard. Burial will follow the service at the Knox City Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Knox City, Texas. A visitation is planned from 6:00 to 7:00pm, Friday, January 10, 2025, at the funeral home, 210 Ave. A, Knox City, Texas.
William was born September 21, 1936 in Anderson County to Willie Mae (Bragg) and Ed William Fletcher. He started working at the age of 14 as a grunt for his brother. He worked for multiple electric power line companies. In 2006 in Trent, Texas he was struck by a train which ended his career as a lineman. He was a loving and great father who was dedicated to his family. He was a firm believer in Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his son, Larry Fletcher; 2 daughters, Ann Llorente, Kimberly Moss and husband Jeff; sister, Thra Howard; 19 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.
He preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Willie Fletcher; 9 siblings; 1 daughter, Becky Terry; 1 son, Russell Glen “Pug” Fletcher.
