Bill grew up in Jersey City and was a graduate of St. Peters University. He went on to manage his family’s business for many years before starting a second career as a Paraprofessional serving special needs children at Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Edison, where he worked until he retired at age 82. He was a loyal supporter of the New York Giants and a remarkable history buff who always welcomed the challenge of a good trivia game. He also spent time as a race horse owner before choosing Marilyn over the horses in 1985. He continued his hobby by enjoying family time at the racetracks of NJ while also making frequent trips down the Jersey Shore and planning many family trips to historically significant destinations.
Bill was a family man who leaves a remarkable legacy behind rooted in kindness and compassion. Those that spent any amount of time him know what it’s like to be in the presence of a humble, patient, and kind man. Even during his health challenges later in life, his loved ones lost track of how many healthcare workers remarked that he was special and their favorite patient. He was adored as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, godparent, friend, colleague, neighbor and human.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Marilyn, Son Bill, Daughter-In Law Erin, Grandchildren Derek and Daisy, brother Rich (Pat) Plastine, sister Jane Bachert, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
