My thoughts and prayers are with you all today and the days ahead. So many memories since we were not just cousins, but we were neighbors too. We have been through a lot together good times and bad. Joey was young when his mom died.; she wasn´t just my Aunt Nancy but my friend too. I would go up there every day to check up on her.
When Joe got his skidoo, he come pick us up to go ride on the side road. I held on for dear life.; We would do some crazy spins. It was a great time.
We would have some great times in the rumpus room ; some nice family parties.
At the time Joe he was fighting cancer I was fighting too. We talked on the phone discussing how it feels to be a patient and how we are worried about our families. I learned something new about Joe that he was a great writer. I never knew that even though I haven´t seen him in years, he will be missed.
To Elaine, Jared and Jolene I wish I could say that this is the hard part, but I would be lying the hard part comes in the days ahead when you´re just sitting there thinking about your husband/ father. Someone said this to me at my dad´s wake and I wish I could tell you who it was because those were the most truthful words I´ve ever heard. Joe rest in peace.; there´s no more suffering you will be whole again. Reunited with a lot of love ones in heaven.

I was not privileged to know Joseph, but I’m privileged to know his son Jared (aka Beaver), and after reading about the incredible person Joseph was, I understand more about Jared and why he’s so special, so talented. He learned it from his Dad. I feel remiss that Joseph and I never met. If we had, I would have told him he did an incredible job parenting, that he raised a really cool son who shares his love of nature and adventurewho’s wildly creative, thoughtful, and bright. I’d thank him for affecting the world in such a positive way. And I’d tell him that his legacy will live on forever, because his son impacts the world, and especially our little family’s world, in a way that we will be forever grateful.
All my love to Jared’s mom, Jolene, and everyone else that knew, loved, and will miss Joseph. You were blessed, and he’s with you always.

The most kind and gentle man God put on this earth.
Also a talented landscape designer who grew the best corn in Rockingham County.
He was a wonderful neighbor.
