Agnes Farr Obituary

KATHLEEN –
Agnes Adkison Farr, 87, of Kathleen, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023, with loving family by her side. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry with the Visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. and the Funeral starting at 12 Noon. Elder Richard James will be officiating. Interment will be in Bonaire Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, 3040 Riverside Drive, Macon, GA 31210, or to Agnes's church home of many years, Beaver Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Sandefur Road, Kathleen, GA 31047.
Agnes was born was born April 12, 1936, in Louisville, Alabama, but spent most of her life in Georgia, which she called home. She graduated from Perry High School in 1954, and soon after, married the love of her life, Theo Farr. A genuine homemaker at heart, she worked hard to create a caring and encouraging atmosphere and set the example of a true "Proverbs 31 woman" for her family. After raising her five children, Agnes attended college, graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition from Fort Valley State College, and earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia. She then completed a successful Civil Service career at Robins AFB from where she retired after over thirty years of service. Agnes and her husband, Theo, lived out the great commandment, "Love your neighbor as yourself." She was known for her delicious food, her wonderfully delivered stories, and her clever wit. She found joy in teaching others how to cook, can food, and/or sew. If you needed a meal, there was always one available at her home. Agnes enjoyed spending time with her family, her friends, her church, and her Red Hatters. Serving at the Shepherd's Table in Perry, "working" at the canning plant in Perry, and being anywhere she was needed always delighted Agnes. She was an avid reader and writer who published several cookbooks, compiled an in-depth family history, and wrote a weekly homespun article for the Houston Home Journal for many years. She was also a member of the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Agnes was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of forty-nine years, Floyd Theodore "Theo" Farr; her parents, Dan and Estelle Adkinson; her siblings, Sara Swift, Grover Adkinson, Pete Adkinson, Mildred Williams, and Stella Sletto; granddaughter, Mellisa Farr, and grandson Casey Cogburn.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Agnes are her children, Arthur Farr (Rachel) of Forsyth, Rebecca Cogburn (Rallie) of Gray, James Farr (Patricia) of Bonaire, William Farr of Warner Robins, and Elizabeth Bryant of Forsyth; her siblings, Carolyn Harrison (Charles) of Grovania, and Dan Adkinson (Olivia) of Alabama; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home of Perry has been entrusted with the arrangements.
