AGE: 83 • Neptune
Rev. Dr. Mitchell F. Douglas, 83, of Neptune, NJ, preacher, teacher, leader and humanitarian, went home to be with the Lord on Tues, April 8, 2014. He was born on April 2, 1931 in Memphis, TN to Rev. John Allen and Maggie Douglas.
He was divinely called and anointed to preach the Gospel in 1960 and was licensed at Salem Baptist Church, Omaha, NE by his pastor, the late Rev. J. C. Wade, Sr. He was ordained in 1961.
Rev. Douglas has pastored 5 churches and in Nov 2000 he retired as Pastor Emeritus of the Mt Pisgah Baptist Temple, Asbury Park, NJ.
He is predeceased by his parents; 3 brothers; and 7 sisters. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Naomi Douglas; son, Mitchell A. Douglas; daughter, Pamela Ware and husband Pastor Cedric; 6 grandchildren; brother, John Douglas, 2 goddaughters; and a host of relatives and friends.
Viewing is 7-9 pm Mon, April 14, and 9 am Tues, April 15 until the time of the funeral at 10 am at Mt Pisgah Baptist Temple, 1301-5 Springwood Ave, Asbury Park. Interment will follow the service at White Ridge Cemetery, Eatontown. James H. Hunt Funeral Home, Asbury Park, is in charge of arrangements.
