Mary Ann (Hughett) Mayhan, 90, passed away December 20, 2024. She was born on January 20, 1934, to the late Floyd and Vincena (Giordano) Hughett. Mary attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church and grade school, and she graduated from Manual High School in 1952. She married the love of her life Harold Mayhan on April 7, 1956. The two of them moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1968. Mary enjoyed many activities: singing in the church choir at Annunciation Catholic Church in Albuquerque, as well as archery, bowling, camping and fishing with her beloved husband Harold. When she moved back to Indianapolis in 1978, she found a new love in square dancing and joined a few local clubs. Mary worked many jobs throughout her lifetime, most notable being: as the Office Manager at the Local Union of Operating Engineers #953 in Albuquerque for 10 years, and lastly as an Accounts Payable Clerk for the US Customs Service when she retired at the age of 65 to babysit her newborn grandson.
Visitation will be Monday, December 30, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm followed by the Service at 1:00 pm at Conkle Funeral Home Speedway 6925 West 16th Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Mayhan; parents, Floyd and Vincena (Giordano) Hughett; sister, Martha “Martie” Tamer. She is survived by her daughter, Vincena “Teena” (Tim) Johnson; grandson, Travis Johnson; sister, Vincena “Teena” (Joe) Soto as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
