Margaret Murrah Obituary


Family-Placed Death Notice

MURRAH, Margaret Margaret Louise (Lucas) Murrah passed away October 8, 2008 , born January 6, 1920 in Booth, AL, she graduated from high school in Columbus, GA and moved to Atlanta shortly after the end of World War II. After the death of her husband Billy in 1965, she lovingly raised two young sons. She retired from the Georgia Tech Athletic Office /Accounting Dept in 1985 and she was a devoted Yellow Jacket to the end. She was a long time active member of East Point Methodist Church and Friendship Sunday School Class. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters; Jessie Golden, Willie Lee Long, Sadie Spano and Cathleen Lucas. She is survived by her sons; Bill (Susan) Murrah, Robert (Pam) Murrah and beloved granddaughter Meghan. She will also be remembered by her six nephews and four nieces. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 12, 2008 from 12:30 - 2:00 PM at Carmichael - Hemperley Funeral Home, East Point, GA, followed by a Funeral Service at 4:00 PM (in state 3:00 - 4:00 PM) at the East Point Mallalieu United Methodist Church. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Sparks Inn Assisted Living at Christian City.
