James Saponaro Obituary

James Saponaro, 82 years, of Perryville, MD, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025 in the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center of Bel Air, MD. Born January 3, 1943 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Domenick and Mary Calao Saponaro.

Jim was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church of Perryville, MD. He was a former Town Commissioner of Perryville, past president of the Perryville Little League and past president of the Perryville Elementary School PTA. Jim began working for his father at Domenick's Barber Shop at a young age and was employed by the U. S. Government at Aberdeen Proving Ground as a management analyst before retiring.  

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dotty  Saponaro; daughters, Andrea Lattizori (John), Kristen Fleming-Wood (Nick), and Jennifer Lidums; nine grandchildren, Brette Fleming-Wood, Mackenzie Haas (Tommy), Kyle Barkley, Cole Fleming-Wood, Simon Fleming-Wood, Gus Fleming-Wood, Jack Lattizori, Alexander Lidums and Domenick Lidums; brothers, Donato Saponaro (Ruthie), Anthony Saponaro (Patsy); sister, Margherita Saponaro Coudon (Tom); brother-in-law, M. Alan Conrad; and sister-in-law, Carole Conrad.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Good Shepherd Catholic Church or your favorite charity in Jim's name in care of Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 766, Perryville, MD 21903-0766.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday, January 16, 2025, 11 AM, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church of Perryville, MD. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2025, 2 PM until 4 PM and 6 PM until 8 PM, at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., of Perryville, MD. Father Jay McKee of Good Shepherd Parish will officiate. Interment will be private.
