Daniel Clarence (Dan) Snyder, devoted husband, beloved father, and foster grandfather, passed away on

He was a Boy Scout Leader and was the Scout Master of Troop 1515 in Alexandria, Virginia for several
years when his sons were Scouts. He enjoyed camping, hiking, caving, campfire cooking and many other
outdoor activities with the Troop.

University serving as Treasurer and later President of the Fraternity. He helped some of his brothers get
jobs at the Mountainlair where he worked as the night supervisor during college. He enjoyed PIKE golf
outings with his fraternity brothers for many years. He was well known for being a devoted Pittsburgh
sports fan and especially loved the Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins. His love for attending or watching
WVU football games and all the Pittsburgh sports teams continued throughout his life.

I had the privilege of getting to know Dan in his later years. He was always "supervising" the other staff and participants, and had a great sense of humor. Although he has some difficulty expressing himself in his later years, he would also laugh and say, "Well... you know!" and "Mmmmm-kay." He would give the staff hugs, and he really knew that we loved and valued him. We also enjoyed getting to work with his wonderful wife Sondra, who loved and cared for him so deeply and attentively. May he now rest in peace. -Stephanie Houpt
