I am so very sorry for your loss - any day I ran in to Ellen was a good day - such a remarkable woman, so talented, and always ready to laugh (except about Republicans) I´m lucky to have known her!

Many of us students had the opportunity to learn from, and about, Mrs. Viereck. Her interests were wide and colorfully varied (delivered with the inseparable passion she always maintained.) We listened with joy and wonder as she enlightened us about the work that she and her husband, Phil, did in Alaska. Especially memorable were the tales of their time on King Island and among the Eskimo population! Visiting in past years, on occasion, she proved to be quite the communicator and showed a kind humility in listening to the life interests of others. It is wonderful that she could spend even her late years in her beloved home and with her cherished horse in the barn. What a character; what a voice. Unforgettable local lady, with well-traveled experiences to share! (( the included Michael Albans picture is from her great Banner write up of a couple years ago & is one of my favorites. https://shorturl.at/05nwJ ))
