Dolores Bailey Obituary

Dolores Anna Bailey, a radiant spirit whose kindness embraced all fortunate enough to know her, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2025, in Holden, Massachusetts. Born on September 8, 1930, in the quaint town of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Dolores was a beacon of warmth and humor throughout her life.

As a devoted homemaker, Dolores dedicated herself to nurturing her five children. Showcasing a remarkable talent for culinary arts that became her true passion. Her kitchen was not just a space for cooking, but a gathering place where family and friends rejoiced in lavish feasts, each dish a testament to her unwavering love. She skillfully blended the roles of mother and caregiver with her zest for life, ensuring that the hearth remained a place of comfort and joy.

In pursuit of her dreams, Dolores ventured into the realm of professional hairdressing, later establishing a salon within her home. This decision was emblematic of her character-she relished the company of her family and community, intertwining her professional aspirations with her deep-seated love for those around her. The salon became a sanctuary not only for beauty but also for community engagement, where laughter and camaraderie flourished.

Dolores's passions extended beyond the kitchen. She was an avid Bridge player, known for her sharp wit and adeptness at the card table. For years, she hosted weekly gatherings, inviting friends to partake in both the game and the lively banter that accompanied it, a testament to her ability to create lasting bonds through shared experiences.

She is mourned by her five devoted children, Scott, Todd, and Wayne Bailey, and two sisters, Jody Dicroce and Jill Barack, who carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. Additionally, Dolores was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives will be forever touched by her nurturing presence and infectious laughter.

Dolores Anna Bailey was predeceased by her beloved husband, Willard Bailey (Woody), her mother, Mary Pivero, and her brother, Ralph Pivero. Together, they leave an enduring imprint on the hearts of all who knew them.

In celebrating her life, we remember Dolores as a vibrant soul whose spirit illuminated the lives of many. Her kindness, humor, and culinary delights will forever be cherished by her family and friends, echoing in the laughter and love shared around the tables she so lovingly prepared.

A celebration of her life will be announced in late spring.

Good ol´ Delores. Being an old Greenridge Park resident, I got to know the Baileys first through Wayne. Later, I had the pleasure of seeing Dolores through my work pal, Scotty. Scott picked up lunch most every day at the old Gertrude homestead and Dolores always packed us a breakfast sandwich. I grew up 3 houses down from the store. We shared a lot of the same friends. My dog was "Smokey"! The Baileys had "Puggy"! Dolores cut hair so she knew everyone. Her mom lived with them. Gramma was one tough lady. Walk into that house with dirty shoes and you could catch a broomstick across your backside. Dolores persevered having lost her beloved "Woody". She poured her love into her children and grandchildren. She wore her opinions on her sleeve so watch out! Dolores was not shy about her words. I commend Wayne for doing the heavy lifting through her final years. He is a wonderful son. Make no mistake, Scott stopped every morning and every night for years making sure she was ok. That commitment takes dedication, love, and deep respect. I´m sure the others played their part but I witnessed the time spent by Karen and Scott with her. The local grandkids often made stops and special occasions were always honored with her presence. It was an honor for me to know Delores. Everyone was "HON" and for me I could feel the love when she would see me. I will miss her but keep a warm place in my heart when I think of her. She was a special person. A GIVING PERSON! Dolores put others before herself. For that GOD has rewarded her and reunited her with those that shared a life with her. To the Bailey family and the good old Pivero´s let this time of reflection be happy and uplifting in the knowledge that Mom, Gramma, Ma, Aunt Delores, Sister and Daughter, Cousin and friend and Mrs Bailey is safe in GODS hands and but a thoughtful remembrance away. I am most fortunate to know many of you because I see a measure of Delores in each of you. Geno DiNicola

Dear Wayne, Scott, Todd, Jodie & Jill, we are
So sorry to hear about your Mom. Both she and Woody were always so nice to me. She cut my hair when I was in college and we always had great conversations. She was always asking me what I was up to and I was always asking about how Wayne, Scott and the rest of the family was doing. I miss those days but will always remember Delores and how nice she was to me. God Bless.

My Friend Dolores was a wonderful. We had lots of laughs together. Dolores use to go my Parent's house to cut their hair, my Father would ask her to go around the corner package store to pick his wine. She never said no. My condolences to all the family.
Especially her Son Wayne that took care of her later in life. I felt bad reading Dolores obituary but I also made a smile thinking of the good times. RIP, my Friend

So sorry to hear of Delores' passing, she and her husband were friends with my aunt and uncle, Dick and Joan Mosher. I used to go to her house with my mom and have our haircut when I was younger. What a wonderful lady and hairdresser. Remember all the good times you had together to get through these very hard times.

I could write a book full of memories of Delores.
Her immaculate home, her mother Mary constantly tidying up the kitchen...the cooking!
Delores was a staple in my childhood.

I can still hear the great laughs she & my mom shared. Especially the time she frosted my mother´s red hair and it turned green. They roared!

Delores was a force, her exuberant personality and warmth were always a comfort. She left a mark.

I loved Delores and my heart goes out to all the Bailey kids, grandchildren & all who loved her.

No one who met Delores could ever forget her.

Love,
Darcy
