It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jo Anne Munson on February 26, 2025, at the age of 61. Jo passed away peacefully at her home in Sagle, Idaho, surrounded by her loving family.

Jo was born on January 30, 1964, in Yreka, California, to Linda Smith and Douglas Munson. She grew up in Northern California, where she learned the values of hard work and resourcefulness. From cooking and sewing to caring for livestock, and as a member of the Girl Scouts, Jo embraced life's adventures with determination and grace.

Jo had 2 sisters, and many cousins.

At 18, Jo began dating Alan Peterson, and together they were blessed with two daughters, Joanne Peterson and Christina Peterson. Over the years, Jo's journey took her across Northern California and Washington before finding her forever home in Idaho in 2002.

Jo was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She was the strongest, most selfless woman, with a heart of gold. She devoted herself to caring for those around her and was always willing to help anyone in need. Smart, resourceful, and determined, Jo found her greatest joy in spending time with her seven grandchildren, who were the light of her life.



An avid lover of the outdoors, Jo cherished hiking, camping, and embarking on new adventures. She had a special love for animals and found happiness in nature's beauty.

Jo's warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed by all.

Jo is survived by Alan Peterson; her two daughters, Joanne Peterson and Christina Peterson; and her seven cherished grandchildren
