Betty Hugus Obituary

Betty Ann Crites Hugus, 90, of Clarksburg, WV passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Crestview Manor Healthcare Center in Jane Lew.

She was born in Petersburg, WV on October 14, 1935, a daughter of the late George Ashby and Viola Mae Koontz Crites.

Surviving Betty are one son, David Lee Hugus, II of Clarksburg; her granddaughter, Molly Paige Hugus; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer Crites; and one sister, Helen Gray.

Betty was a graduate of Washington Irving High School. She worked as a salesperson for Aaron's Shoe Store, and retired as a dental assistant with J.B. Kirkwood D.D.S.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Queen Ester No. 11. Betty enjoyed reading books, playing solitaire, and watching NASCAR.

In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. Hugus will be cremated.

Family and friends may gather at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison St, Nutter Fort on Monday, February 23, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, where Catholic Burial Rites will take place at 6:00 pm to conclude the gathering, with Father Casey Mahone presiding.
