Richard Heinrich Obituary

Richard Paul Heinrich (retired CPD) passed away peacefully, on April 22, 2024, just short of one year after his wife of 70 years. Devoted husband to Margaret Ann; cherished father of Debbie (Don) Magnuson, Michael (Susan Kukis), Michele (Dennis) Cihak, Lynn (John) Casale, Mary Lee (Michael) Antonucci, Laura (Jon) Thorsen, Karen (Tim) Snow, Dawn (Dan) Oda, and the late Kathryn Louise. Loving grandfather of 23 and great-grandfather of 21; Proud son of the late Arthur and Augusta; Fond brother of Marion Hilgers and the late Arthur, Ralph, and Lawrence; Beloved uncle and friend to many.

Dick was born in Chicago, on September 3, 1933. He graduated from St. Philomena School in 1947 and from DePaul Academy in 1951. He met the love of his life in 1950 through a mutual friend. Their first date was going for a walk to get a cherry coke, and they were inseparable from then on. Dick and Marge were married on September 6, 1952 and went on to raise a family in faith and love. Dick was a member of several Catholic communities in the Chicagoland area over the years, including St Philomena, St. Peter Canisius, St. Giles, and Queen of All Saints. He had a special devotion to St. Padre Pio.

Our father worked as a Chicago Police officer from 1956 to 1987 and various part time jobs to provide for his family. In the mid 90's he retired to Michigan City, Indiana and worked for St Andrew's Products until 2019, forming wonderful relationships with the people there. While living in Indiana he enjoyed golfing, gardening, hunting, fishing and having his family spend time with him in Shoreland Hills. Recently he returned to the Chicago area where he found new friends at The Carrington in Lincolnwood.

Friday, April 26th friends and family will meet at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Ave., Chicago IL 60646, for a visitation at 8:30am and process to Queen of All Saints Basilica, 6280 N Sauganash Ave, Chicago, for a funeral mass at 10:00am. As Dick's first nephew, I remember the big family picnics, baseball games, and my first (and terrifying) ride on a real roller coaster with him, Uncle Ralph, and my dad, Art. Dick was a big presence in the family and Grandma Gussie was always speaking fondly of him.
