Clifton Davidson Obituary

Clifton "Clif" Charles Davidson of East Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the age of 80, after a 7-year battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Clif was born March 27, 1945, in Milan, TN and then raised in Baltimore, MD.  Clif served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He then attended Texas Tech University where he met his wife, Marty.  The two were DJ's together at the college radio station and they got married on May 15, 1971.  They moved to East Grand Rapids in 1979 where they settled down and raised their family.
In the 1980's, Clif owned Windmill Communications in Grand Rapids where he and Marty put together state of the art audio visual presentations for companies and corporate events.  Clif worked in multiple industries during his life from creative productions to coaching gymnastics to commercial transportation.  He made many connections and loved being part of the local East Grand Rapids community.  Clif went back to school later in life to complete his Bachelor of Arts at Aquinas College. This was one of his proudest accomplishments.
Clif was known for his friendliness, kindness, and happy go lucky attitude. He truly was a kid at heart. Clif enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He loved golfing, nature photography, a good gin and tonic, gardening, dogs, and his Ford Mustang convertible. Clif also enjoyed music and singing. He was a member of the St. Stephens catholic church choir and the Schubert male chorus.
Clif is preceded in death by his wife, Eileen "Marty" (McCarthy), granddaughter, Tessa Grace Cook, brother, Dr. James Narl Davidson, and parents, John Narl and Eugenia Phillips Davidson.
Clif is greatly missed by his son, Clifton Scott (Kimberly) Davidson, daughter, Kara (Micah) Cook, granddaughters, Molly and Jill Cook, brother, Leslie Davidson, and dear friend, Sue Nelson.
The family would like to thank Clark Retirement Community in Grand Rapids for providing extraordinary memory care services and recognize their staff and volunteers who were true friends and family to Clif over the past 7 years.
A celebration of Clif's life will be held Friday, October 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM with visitation one hour prior and reception following at Clark Retirement Community Chapel, 1546 Sherman Street SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506.

My deepest sympathy to Scott, Kara, and family! I am so grateful for the opportunity to get to know Clif over the years. He was such a joy and a great friend! I always remember his favorite saying, "Oh... I am just being facetious." I will forever remember his smile and love for nature. He will be greatly missed!
