Shirley Edbauer Obituary

Edbauer, Shirley Ann George

September 19, 1935 - November 16, 2024

Age 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her devoted family. Born in Batavia, New York, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Mary George. In 1956, she married Thomas J. Edbauer and together they raised a loving family. Shirley graduated from Batavia High School and attended Rosary Hill College. She was a longtime parishioner at Good Shepherd Church and past President of the Christian Mothers. Shirley volunteered at the food pantry and was an Election Inspector for many years. During her life, Shirley worked as a head cashier, in housekeeping and food service and most recently, as a lunch monitor at Starpoint Central School District. Shirley is survived by her husband Thomas and six children: Cheryl (William) Nechamen, Kimberly (Christopher) Frey, Susan (Timothy) Dray, Denise Edbauer, Thomas G. (Regina) Edbauer and David (Aliza) Edbauer. Shirley was also the cherished grandmother of Stephen (Megan), Kevin (Angela), Jason (Hilary), Matthew (Kirsten), Jennifer, Jeremy (Chelsea), Mary (Kevin), Sarah, Alexander (Nicole), Andrew (Kimberlyn), Jonathon, Lauren (Alex), Jeffrey, Renee, Alyssa, Gregory and Carter. Shirley was also the loving great-grandmother of Ava, Bradley, Emmett, Abigail, Liam, Vera, Sophie, Benjamin, Genevieve, Madelyn, Parker, Killian, Boden, Cameron, Charlotte and Lorenzo. When asked to share their favorite memories of their grandmother, every grandchild immediately said "her cut-out cookies!". Shirley made delicious cut-out cookies for every holiday. She also played a mean game of pinochle. We will miss her dearly. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Edbauers have always been wonderful neighbors. My mother always said... "if I'm not here and you need something.... go see Shirley". Sending love to your whole family.
