Sep 27, 2025
86, of Buffalo, New York, and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 25, 1938, in New York City to the late Julius and Elizabeth Loewenthal. Susan was the beloved and devoted wife of the late Edwin Levy, with whom she shared 50 years of love, laughter, and partnership. Together they built a beautiful life centered on family, friends, and great adventures. Edwin was a twin to Maurice Levy, and from the start Susan and Maurice's wife, Judy, became fast and lifelong friends. The two couples and their five children were seldom apart, sharing a bond that blended family and friendship in a rare and lasting way. Susan graduated from Ethical Culture Fieldston School and Simmons College. She was deeply committed to her community, giving her time and talents to organizations such as Young Audiences, Children's Hospital of Buffalo, Rosa Coplon, and Red Cross of Western New York, while she was also a fixture with friends on golf and tennis courts and at the bridge table. Family was the heart of Susan's life. She adored every moment with her husband, children, and grandchildren, whose endless love for her will carry on as they miss her deeply. Susan was the cherished mother of Stephen Levy (Buffy) and Patty Glick (the late Arthur); the proud grandmother of Emily and Allie Glick and Noah and Ethan Levy; the devoted sister of the late Robert Loewenthal (Donna); and held a special place in the hearts of her many nieces, nephews, and friends including Emilce Andersen, who lived with, cared for, and loved the family as her own for 60 years. A "lifer" at Camp Walden in Denmark, Maine, Sue treasured the friendships and memories she made there, which remained an important part of her life. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Temple Beth Zion, 805 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14209, followed by a private burial.
