Terry Hershberger Obituary

Terry Lee Hershberger

age 69, passed away peacefully in his home in Republic Washington on the evening of Wednesday, August 18, 2021. Terry was born on August 5, 1952 in Walnut Creek, Ohio to Loren "Piney" and Lucille (Schmucker) Hershberger. After graduating from high school in Louisville, Ohio, Terry's travels brought him to Lafayette, Louisiana where he met the love of his life, Julia. On April 7, 1979 he married Julia Chandler and they made their way to the Pacific Northwest to begin a life of homesteading. Together they built a home with their own hands, grew and preserved their own food, and raised four children, Anna, Carolyn, Jana, and Kenny. Terry was a jack of all trades working a wide range of jobs throughout his life such as restoring old furniture, construction, oil field, wild land fire fighting, and finally as a mill operator with multiple gold mining companies until he retired due to his battle with cancer. He enjoyed working and worked hard, while always knowing how to joke and keep things fun. He made many friends in the process. Terry was known for his love of woodworking, gardening, and sledding. He loved music and boogied his way across the country and through time from Woodstock to the local Rock Cut Blues. He loved to travel and took his family on many long road trips and adventures around the country. He was an incredibly dedicated and hard worker at everything in his life and was known for taking all of his projects to the next level. Terry had a kind and compassionate heart and would do anything or give to anyone in need without a second thought, always willing to help when it was needed.

Terry was preceded in death by his mother Lucille and infant daughter Grace. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Julia, four children Anna, Carolyn, Jana, and Kenny, father Loren, brothers Greg and Barry, sister Gail, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, family and friends. Terry's family was very important and dear to him and he loved them deeply.

He will be laid to rest at the Republic Cemetery. Danekas Funeral Chapel is entrusted in care.
