Scott Beares Obituary

Scott Edward Beares, 55, of Westminster, passed away on Sunday, September 29th peacefully at his home. Born July 7, 1969, in Baltimore, he was the son of Allen Jr. and Susan Beares. He was the loving husband of Wendy Beares, his wife of 30 years. Scott was a graduate of Liberty High School, Class of 1987. He started his working career at People's Lumber in Mt. Airy as a custom millworker and then worked for 30 years at John S. Wilson Lumber Company in West Friendship. Scott was a true handyman who could fix anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand, no matter the task. He was an avid sports fanatic, often watching college football, the Orioles, and the Ravens. Scott enjoyed coaching his daughter's Westminster Jaycees softball teams. One of Scott's greatest joys was his lifelong passion for trains, especially taking trips up to Altoona with his dad. He would spend countless hours creating intricate model train sets and took pride in sharing his knowledge and stories with others. Scott had a love for history. He will be deeply missed. Surviving in addition to his wife is his cherished daughter Megan Beares of Littlestown, brother Blake Beares of Hanover, beloved dog Oakley, and is loved by numerous family and friends. Scott is preceded in death by grandparents Allen Sr. and Margaret Beares and Edward and Audrey Carder. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 11am at the funeral home, with a visitation beginning one hour prior. Interment will follow at Providence Cemetery, Finksburg.
