Shirley Hoessel, age 73, of Columbus died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. Visitation with family is on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at McKown Funeral Home with a Vigil service to follow at 5 p.m. Visitation with family continues Monday morning from 9:30-10:15 a.m. at St. Bonaventure Church. In lieu of plants and flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the donor's choice.
Shirley Hoessel was born July 14, 1950, in Columbus to Arthur and Elaine (Cook) Kurtenbach. She graduated from Scotus Central Catholic in 1968. Gene Hoessel was the love of her life and they married at St. Paul's Church in rural Leigh on July 30, 1994.
Shirley worked at Vishay from 1980 until 2017. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church where she was past president of the Ladies of the Lord.
Shirley is survived by: husband, Gene Hoessel of Columbus; daughters, Tammy (Steve Nickolite) Melcher of Leigh, Kristina Lewis of Omaha, Shelia (Mike) Circello of Baytown, Texas, and Penny (Stelios) Lampadarios of Alpharetta, Georgia; stepsons, Jason Hoessel of Creston, Jeremy (Sheila) Hoessel of Holt, Missouri, and Justin Hoessel of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Randy (Joan) Kurtenbach of Omaha and Dale (Hyon) Kurtenbach of Omaha; and brother-in-law, Tom Campbell of Hendersonville, Tennessee.
She is preceded in death by: parents, Art and Elaine Kurtenbach; and sisters, Mary Campbell and Carlene Kurtenbach.
