Elaine Beranek Obituary

Elaine M. Beranek, 91 of La Crosse, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at the Riverside Transitional Care Center. She was born August 24, 1932, in Richland Center, WI to James and Tilly (Sebranek) Shebeck and graduated from Hillsboro High School.

On June 29, 1957, she married Robert “Bob” Beranek at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in La Crosse, and he preceded her in death on July 2, 2011. Elaine had worked for Doerflinger’s Department Store in La Crosse and waitressed with her twin sister, Elinor at the Moose Lodge for many years. Elaine was proud of her vegetable garden and enjoyed keeping a beautiful lawn. She loved polka music and spoke fluent Czechoslovakian. Elaine was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish and the Women of the Moose.

Elaine is survived by her nieces and nephews; Chuck (Bobbi Albrechtson) Nedvidek of Ettrick, WI, Karen Nedvidek of Sparta, Rita (Don) Kennedy of Eden Prairie, WI and Tom (Kelly) Nedvidek of Stoddard; great nieces and nephews, Robby Heberlein, Tim Heberlein, Nathan (Hailey) Kennedy, Nicholas Kennedy and Holly (Duncan) McKinney; two great-great nieces, Haidyn Heberlein and Josie McKinney, along with many other relatives. Along with her husband Bob, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Elinor Nedvidek and brother-in-law, Charlie Nedvidek.

Her body is worn out from years of fighting, and her time on this planet has come to a close. We are excited for her to be free from her broken body and with her Creator-we know she will be restored to perfect health. What a relief it will be for her!

Elaine was an amazing individual who always gave you a smile when she saw you. I always loved how she would say my name with that smile of hers!! Elaine and Bob were my godparents which got me to know them a little better which I'm very grateful for. They were always so gracious and kind!! Elaine will truly be missed!! My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Elaine's family and friends. Never easy to lose someone so amazing and who is loved so much.

Great memories of working with Elaine at Doerflinger's in the gift wrap department. Always a smile! Always caring and helpful to fellow employees. I considered her a lifelong friend.

Our Aunt Elaine's return to her Creator and being reunited with her predeceased loved one brings an end to a very sweet, gracious and lovely woman's journey here on Earth. She and Uncle Bobby always welcomed us into their home when we came from out of town for a visit. They also were supportive of our sons whenever it came time to raise money for their school or other activities before we left LA Crosse 32 years ago. We admired, respected and loved her and are grateful she was our Aunt.

We are going to miss you so much, Elaine. We have been good friends since you were at Shelby Terrace. You always enjoyed our weekly visits, especially when we brought Chloe (Linda's tiny dog) along. We will always remember you with very happy memories. Blessings to you in Heaven.

So sorry, a true friend, was so nice to recall all the memories of our high school years, the buss rides down champion valley. And to talk in the Czech language of old times.
