In addition to skiing, his favorite activities included sailing, books, camping, chess, jazz, The White Mountains, gardening, bird watching, The Boston Globe, traveling and following Boston sports teams. After retiring in 1996, Jim filled his time by volunteering as a UNH Marine Docent and as an Assistant Moderator for the Town of Deerfield.

In addition to his wife, Jim leaves his daughter, Judith R. County of Somerville, MA and his son John T. County of Rye Beach, a sister Nancy A. Jim , being a long time friend holds a very special place in my heart! He was such a good friend to Byron who always enjoyed his company. May they find each other again and play chess surrounded by maple syrup they will both be missed!
