PORTEOUS, RUSSEL WILLIAM– Of Flint, age 68, died Wednesday, October 2, 2024.
Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
Memorial Visitation 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2024 Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Russel was born in Flint, Michigan on September 29, 1956, the son of the late Robert and Helen (Oleksyn) Porteous.
On August 2, 1995 he married Angie Wolf and she preceded him in death.
Russel graduated high school in 1974, attending Baker College with a degree in business.
He worked at the family-owned business, The Dort Mall and Became a Master Electrician and was employed with the Detroit Electrical Union 58.
Surviving are children, Russel and wife Jessica Porteous, Kortney Porteous, Eric Porteous;
sisters, Chris and Mike Clary, Laura Porteous and Teresa Porteous;
brother, Bob Porteous;
several nieces, nephews and special friend, Joey Gieswhite.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen Porteous.

To my dear friend and brother for over 40 years I'm having trouble finding the words to say. Wished I could have been there for you Russell, but you know I'm here in Florida. We spoke on the phone a few times may you rest in Heavenly peace and you be home and meet with Angie and out of all the hurt and pain of the ugliness in this world we live in today, love you always and you'll be dearly missed in my heart. Go rest and no more pain and hurt, Always know I Loved You Like my Brother, you knew that. God bless Teresa, Bobby, Eric, Courtney, LR, Kay and the grandbabies. To all of Angie's family, my sisters, nieces and nephews and sister I love you all like you were my own and I love the family, I wish could have been there for everybody may God be with his loved ones in this time of hurt and pain love you all, may God give you peace in your hearts my dear friend and brother of 40 years love you all sending my prayers.Aunt Debbie and family.

RIP Russel. Russel and I go way back to Kindergarten all the way through High School. There are many fond memories to reminisce about and I was saddened to learn of his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Porteous family during this time of grief. Sending hugs to all.....
