DEFIANCE - Ruth Katherine Warnimont, age 90 of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at The Laurels of Defiance.
She was born on October 18, 1934, in Defiance, Ohio to Vernon and Mildred (Greiner) Marihugh. On February 21, 1954, she married Paul Warnimont who preceded her in death in 2020. They were married for 66 years.
Ruth worked as an office manager at a variety of companies; All Star Products, Kellermeyer Chemical and Defiance Warehouse/Overhead Door until her retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Defiance but had attended Ney Church of God for over the past 40 years.
Ruth enjoyed sewing, playing piano and singing, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. They also cherished their time together, playing games, going on adventures, etc. Ruth loved baking them cakes and hiding money inside for them to find. She never missed an opportunity to support them in sports, music and academic activities. "Aunt Ruth" was loved by all her nieces and nephews for all the cards and letters she would send them and she never missed a birthday! She also enjoyed flea markets and antiquing with Paul.
Religion was a priority for Ruth and her legacy to her family was her faith in God. She was very active in the church, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, and never missed the opportunity to take her grandchildren to Vacation Bible School.
Ruth is survived by her two brothers, David and Pete Marihugh, her daughter Linda (Don) Ulrich, and grandchildren, Jordan Ulrich, Alyssa (Philip) Leach, Kacie (Jordan) Schlater and Rylee (Joe) Cross and nine great-grandchildren, Marihugh, Raegan, Roman, Anderson, Harvey, Evander, Aiden, Cameron and Hendricks, with a set of twins coming soon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers Charles and James Marihugh, and two angel great-grandbabies.
The family would like to thank the staff of Laurels for their outstanding care and compassion, especially Dawn and Kari, activity directors who facilitated weekly Face-Time visits. Although Ruth was afflicted with Alzheimer's, she still loved to talk.
A private burial was held at Riverside Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
