Wanda "Bootner" McKee, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, born on June 24, 1947, in McNairy County, Tenn., to the late Harris and Effie Killingsworth South. She was united in marriage to Kenneth McKee on February 14, 1969, creating a partnership that flourished for 55 years.
A proud graduate of Michie High School, Class of 1965, and a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Michie, Tenn. For over 25 years, she embraced her passion for beauty as a talented beautician, touching the lives of many with her skills and her gentle spirit.
Wanda cherished life's simple pleasures, from traveling and spending time at McKee's Gun Shop with her son, Tracey, to preparing delicious meals for her family and watching the birds outside her windows. She found great joy in moments shared with her granddaughters, Kylie and Savannah.
Mrs. McKee departed this life peacefully on October 10, 2024, at the age of 77. She leaves behind a loving family that includes her devoted husband, Kenneth McKee; her son, Tracey McKee and wife Jennifer; her cherished granddaughters, Kylie McKee (fiancé Michael Weaver) and Savannah McKee; two sisters, Robin Williams of Michie and Pam Latch of Adamsville, Tenn.; three sisters-in-law, Shelia Spoon and husband Tommy of Burnsville, Jane McKee of Corinth, and Mary Lee McKee of Corinth; two brothers-in-law, Jack McKee and wife Sandra of Memphis, Tenn. and Eddie McKee and wife Angie of Counce, Tenn.; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. McKee was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Wilson; a brother, James O. South.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the special nurses and caregivers of Legacy Hospice for their compassionate care.
Services were held on October 14, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, Tenn., with Jeff Harvill officiating. Burial followed in the Carter Cemetery at Michie, Tennessee.
