Kay McDonald Obituary

Kay McDonald, 71

Kay Sands McDonald, 71, of Columbia Falls, Montana, was born to Bill and Lois Sands. Kay, a loving sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, joined her loving husband Jerry in Heaven September 26, 2023.

She was born and raised in Nyack Montana with her two brothers, Bill and Tom Sands. She attended Columbia Falls High School where she participated in drill team and choir. In 1970 she married Jerry McDonald and together they raised their two boys, Jason and Chris.

Kay was always doing something, whether it was traveling with family and friends or playing Bunco with the girls. Kay worked hard to support her family and spent the majority of her career working for MARLS. Faith and family were the cornerstones of her life. She continued to enjoy her busy days supporting her grandchildren, Jacey, Quinn, Josiah, and Xander and great grandchild Kallum. Kay always enjoyed hunting, fishing, and skiing with family and friends.

Kay is preceded in death by her husband Jerry McDonald. Her parents William and Lois Sands. Step-father Harold Yaeger. Brother Willliam Sands. She is survived by her two sons Jason McDonald (Sharon) and Chris McDonald (Paula); grandchildren Jacey Kohler (Jayson), Quinn, Josiah, and Xander; great grandchild, Kallum; her brother Tom Sands (Reta); her aunt Meridith Wilson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of her life will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Columbia Falls, Montana, October 7th at 2:00 p.m. The service will be live streamed by the church via oslcmt.org. In lieu of flowers please consider donations in Kay's name to the Montana Hope Project, PO Box 5927, Helena, MT 59604 or montanahope.org.
