Donna Lee Punzo (nee Backhaus), born January 1st 1961, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at the age of 64. Beloved wife of Joseph Bernard Punzo; cherished daughter of Marvin and Loretta Backhaus. Devoted mother of Natalie (Dalton) McClanahan and Christine Punzo; loving grandmother of Charles McClanahan and Gracie McClanahan; dear sister of Gary (Barbara) Backhaus, Connie (Steven) Condren, and Denise (Chuck) Cole; treasured aunt of Aaron Backhaus, Megan (Nick) Gallegos, Danny Condren, Caitlin (Kevin) Cromien, Madison (Trevor) Miller, Drew Cole, and the late nephew, Adam Backhaus.
Donna began her career at Famous Barr in the sales department, eventually rising to the role of store manager at their downtown location, Mid Rivers Mall, and other branches. Tributes from her coworkers consistently highlight her kindness, exceptional work ethic, sharp wit, and genuine, unpretentious nature. She was admired for nurturing and developing her team and for being a truly down-to-earth individual. Donna’s warm personality helped her build a large, enduring circle of friends who remained close to her throughout her life. A devoted wife of 33 years, she cherished her family, with her grandson being the light of her life. Donna will be fondly remembered, not only for her love and generosity but also for the delicious trays of baked pasta and chili cheese dip she brought to every family gathering. Donna was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made in Donna's name to in lieu of flowers, Five Acres Animal Shelter.
