Mrs. Barbara L. Kern, age 83, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born in Fairgrove, Michigan, on May 11, 1941, to Carl & Bernice (née Bosley) Kralik. She was raised alongside her brother Carl and attended Fairgrove schools and then Vassar schools. She married the love of her life, Norman Kern, on July 20, 1957. Together they raised their children, shared countless memories, and celebrated 66 years of marriage. Barbara enjoyed cooking, sewing, canning, and bingo nights. She liked spending time outdoors and all that it had to offer including fishing and watching deer visit her home. She shared her gift of cooking with anyone who entered her home, especially her grandchildren. She was the glue that held us all together. Barbara loved being a grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was their biggest cheerleader and never missed their baseball & football events.
She is forever loved by her beloved husband, Norman; daughter, Debra (Ted) Colosky; daughter-in-law, Carol Kern; grandchildren, Jeremy (Morgan) Kern, Carrie Gilboe, Jeff (Kelly) Colosky, Jason (Jennifer) Colosky; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Zoey, Cheyenne, Sara, Landon, Wyatt, and another on the way; great-great-grandchild, Everlee; brother, Carl (Maureen) Kralik; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Randy Kern (d. 2021); granddaughter, Carrie Colosky; four great-grandchildren; father, Carl Kralik; and mother, Bernice (the late Alvin) Steward.
