Troy Culver Obituary
Troy was born April 15, 1939 in Fayette County, Tennessee, the son of the late Claudie Cephus Culver and Audrey Lucille Claunch Culver. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard and was married November 17, 1962 to Betty Sue Golightly Culver. Troy was self-employed as a plumber for much of his life and was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church near Somerville, Tennessee. He enjoyed special times with his family, hunting and fishing.
Mr. Culver is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Sue Culver; three sons, Wayne Culver (Lisa) of Waynesboro, TN, Mike Culver of Somerville, TN and Brian Culver (Nikki) of Somerville, TN; his sister, Mary E. Atkeison; two brothers, Delbert Culver (Jean) and Jerry Culver; seven grandchildren, Chelse Adams (Corbin), Victoria Stricklin (Cainan), Joshua Culver, Katie Carroll, Kayla Lynch (Erik), Hannah Culver (Blayne) and Leah Culver; and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Juanita Fitzgerald, Charlene Glover and Stella Culver; his brother, Rex Culver; and his daughter-in-law, Rachel Culver.
A visitation for Mr. Culver will be from 12 noon until 2 P.M. Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Funeral Services will be at 2 P.M. Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Freddie Clifft officiating. He will be assisted by Melvin Rivers. Interment will follow in Somerville City Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Chris Glover, Don Fletcher, Lee Doyle, Cainan Stricklin, Erik Lynch and Joshua Culver. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Diffee, Ray Motley, Charles Creek and Justin Holland.
The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude’s Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or Shady Grove Baptist Church, 17960 Highway 76, Somerville, TN 38068.
