It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick Robert Cayer, who left this world on August 31, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta. Born on March 31, 1956, in Maniwaki, Quebec, Patrick lived a life rich in creativity and passion.
He is survived by his children, Jason Dalnoki of Ottawa, Natasha Syncox of Ottawa, Trina Bastien of Calgary, Elliot Bastien of New Brunswick, and Tim Bastien of Edmonton. He shared his life with his cherished partner, Jacqueline Milton. Patrick is also survived by his siblings: Lou, Steven, Wesley, Barbara, and Rachel. He leaves behind a family filled with love, including numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members in Alberta and Quebec.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo Cayer and Katherine Benard; stepson, Michael, and siblings Henry, Gilbert, Peter, Rita, Jean, and Marjorie. Their memories will forever be a part of his legacy.
Patrick was a talented artist, known for his ability to create beautiful dreamcatchers, a reflection of his deep appreciation for Indigenous culture. His artistic endeavors were not only a hobby but a meaningful expression of his identity and heritage.
Patrick's warm spirit and artistic talent will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace.
Interment will take place at the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation in Maniwaki, Quebec at a later date.
