Alisa Rodgers Obituary

Alisa Wash Rodgers, 23 years old, lost her life on the evening of March 30th, 2022. Recently married, she and her husband Talon Rodgers were both killed in a senseless act of violence in their home. Alisa was a beloved daughter and cherished sister. Alisa was a joyful child and had a happy childhood on the water, enjoying boating and marine life, and in the winter skiing at Wintergreen. She lit up the room with her infectious smile. Alisa attended York High School and graduated from Walsingham Academy where she loved art, participated in choir, and ran cross country. She was also very active at Grace Church, serving as an acolyte for many years and participating in the youth group. She attended college at Sweet Briar and Thomas Nelson Community College. Alisa was a sweet spirit, who loved animals and was a kind, caring, and empathetic friend. She enjoyed volunteering and being a summer camp counselor at Dream Catchers' Cori Sikich Therapeutic Riding Center, as it combined her love of animals and her desire to help others. Alisa was looking forward with optimism to the next chapter of her life, joined in marriage, and planning another journey. She is terribly missed by all those who love her and have been touched by her life and the light of her smile. Alisa is survived by her paternal grandfather, and a large family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Alisa was an important part of many joyful family celebrations and trips with her extended family. Among her favorites were those at the Outer Banks and tropical destinations where she learned to scuba dive and explore life under the sea. Alisa was a gift to the Wash family placed in their arms by her loving, generous birth family. A funeral service for Alisa will be held and she will be laid to rest with her grandparents. In remembrance of Alisa's life, her family requests that those wanting to make charitable donations consider Dream Catchers https://dreamcatchers.org, Freekind www.freekindva.org, or any charity of your choice.

Alisa and I were close childhood friends. I remember we would spend so much time kayaking and investigating marsh snails near her home. She was always cheerful and up for an adventure. Can't believe it's been over a year since she passed.

There are simply no words that may be thought, spoken, or written, adequate to express the profound and deep sorrow this horrendous loss has created. My dear Elizabeth (Lizzie) and Tom, please know that my heartfelt prayers for you both are that our Lord, Savior, and the Holy Spirit are ever present in your lives, on guard and lifting you up moment by moment until grace, peace, and comfort may completely fill your hearts, souls, and minds. Much love and prayers for all of you. Bonnie from Telephone Days.

It was with a heavy heart that I read the news of Alisa´s passing. She was one of my third grade students and I remember her as a wonderful, kind, and loving young person. My deepest condolences to her family. She was a bright soul who has been taken from this world far too soon.

Alisa always managed put a smile on my face and make my days better. She was an incredibly vibrant, beautiful, and caring individual. I feel so lucky for our friendship during her time at Sweet Briar and will forever cherish the memories I have of her.
