Guy Barnocky Obituary

Guy Stephen Barnocky

November 26, 1936 - October 24, 2024

Guy Stephen Barnocky was born on November 26, 1936, and died peacefully on October 24, 2024 of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his parents John S. Barnocky and Anne Granett Barnocky, his sister Helen, and his son-in-law Kieran Kelley. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joan Barnocky, and his four children, Carleen Kelley, Guy Barnocky (Janice), Anne Galvez (José), and Jim Barnocky. He was Pop Pop to ten grandchildren, Max, Drew, Erin, Brian, Luke, Will, Nicolás, Mason, Austin, and Evan.

Guy grew up in the Villa Park section of Trenton, NJ. He graduated in 1954 from Trenton Catholic High School and later from Villanova University with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering. In September of 1958, he and Joan married and enjoyed 66 years of life together.

He spent most of his professional career with the Sperry Rand Corporation. In 1965, he transferred to Sperry's Piedmont division in Charlottesville where he was known as Mr Radar.

Guy and Joan were active members of Church of the Incarnation Parish for over 40 years where Guy served as a Eucharistic Minister and on the Parish Council. He and Joan later became snowbirds, traveling to Florida each winter to find sunshine and relaxation. His favorite moments were on the golf course and family holidays.

Guy will be interred at St Thomas Aquinas church in the St Vincent Ferrer Columbarium in a private family service at a later date. The family would like to thank the caregivers at The Blake in Charlottesville and at the Sunrise of McLean Village in McLean, Virginia.

It is with deep sadness that Martha and I read of Guy's passing. Guy has been a great fellow parishioner and close friend since 1977. I have many fond memories of his friendship golfing and his ministerial leadership. To me he was a special Guy. He will always be remembered.

I have special memories of Guy from our employment together at Sperry Marine (I was his secretary for a short time). He always impressed me with his warmth and kindness, and his gentle, and often humorous, demeanor. He loved his family deeply, and often spoke of Joan and the children. May cherished memories bring comfort and strength to your family.

I remember Dad and Mom with smiles each time we met. Dad was always in the back of the church laughing and yacking with my Chuck! The last time I saw them was at a funeral and both were looking for each other. They were an important presence to the parish community and I hope they realized such. I always look for them at furnerals as well. It is a gift to know that Dad is with his Maker and Mom is being cared for. Please tell her I said hello and think of both often. With love and gratitude Peg and Chuck Lascano
