Dan Prince Obituary

Dan Cecil Prince

September 10, 1953 ~ September 19, 2024

Dan passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Alice, his brother Thom, and his son Jayson. He is survived by his two children, Jamie and Tony, his stepdaughter Annie, his grandson Kyle, his life partner, Kathy, and many loving family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Yoda, who brought him joy and companionship.

Dan enjoyed a life filled with adventure and a passion for the outdoors. Whether he was cooking, camping, fishing, or hunting, he embraced life with an enthusiasm for trying new things. A proud 49ers fan and a NASCAR enthusiast, he cherished the moments when the 49ers would pass by his workplace at Western Digital while living in Northern California, where he worked as a Facilities Manager.

Born and raised in Utah, Dan was the youngest of four boys. Many family gatherings were enjoyed over the years in the family's home and large backyard, lovingly built by their parents. In his younger years, Dan found joy in the thrill of hang gliding, paragliding, and parasailing, soaring through the skies with a fearless heart. He earned his Eagle Scout rank, a testament to his dedication and commitment, and was also a skilled athlete, dedicating himself to karate, wrestling, boxing, gymnastics, and cheerleading-showcasing his diverse talents and zest for life.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at University of Utah Hospital who cared for Dan during his time in the hospital and ICU. Your compassion and dedication provided comfort and peace during a difficult time, and we are forever grateful. They also wish to thank IPS Mortuary & Crematory, especially Greg and Jeff, for their compassionate support and guidance during this time.

Dan was well-loved and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of love, adventure, and trying new things will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.

Dan was the first person we met when we moved to West Valley City in 2013. He was always so kind and we trusted him. I will miss seeing him sit on the porch every morning and evening. He had great advice and was always so pleasant to talk to.

Dan was welcomed to our family over the past 12 years where he shared his talent of cooking. Holiday celebrations were greeted by homemade fudge, green beans & mushrooms and delicious candied yams.

Dan treated my mother with respect. They looked forward to the annual camping / deer hunt in Nephi.

Trista and Drake were often referred as his grand kids and the new edition Maverick brought enormous laughter and joy.

May Dan share a slice of cherry cheesecake with each of his loved ones he is now reunited with.
