It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of our dearly beloved mom, granny, and friend, Beth
Hamilton, who passed from this life on January 13, 2025, at the age of 86. She was the cherished daughter of Oliver
Gordon (OG) Hamilton and Martha Alice (Mattie) Luper, citizens of Post, both of whom preceded her in death.
Born on May 20, 1938, in Lubbock, Texas, Alice Elizabeth (Beth) Hamilton embraced life with fierce independence, an adventurous spirit, and unwavering faith. Beth was a proud Texan, a recurrent resident of Post, and an intrepid traveler who often ventured far from home. Whether embarking on a solo pilgrimage to the Holy City of Jerusalem or piling her family and faithful dog into a van for camping adventures at KOA sites across Texas, she delighted in exploring the world. The great outdoors brought her peace and joy, whether swimming at Sitting Bull Falls, relaxing in the hot springs of Red River, hiking into Carlsbad Caverns, or camping under the stars at Canyon Valley. Beth’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She read her Bible daily, meticulously noting her thoughts in its margins, and shared its teachings with her children and grandchildren alongside lessons from her treasured handbook of manners. For Beth, God always came first—but proper etiquette was a close second. Her commitment to her faith extended to her active involvement in her church, where her beautiful singing voice enriched the choir and congregation every Sunday. She was incredibly talented and surely now sings alongside the angels. Though surrounded by family and friends, Beth’s heart held a special place for dogs. She adored her canine companions, who were as spoiled and mischievous as they were beloved. Their antics often tested everyone’s patience (who could forget our family chasing the fastest poodle in the world all through town?), but they brought her endless joy and laughter. Beth also left her mark in the professional world. At JCPenney, she became the trusted expert for all men’s suits and accessory needs. Her keen eye for fashion ensured that her clients always looked their best, just as she did. Her impeccable style was evident in every detail of her thoughtfully curated outfits. She was a captivating blend of elegance, beauty, and charm with an infectious laugh that left everyone longing to hear it again. Armed with a wealth of knowledge in literature, history, geography, and the PDR (Physicians’ Desk Reference), Beth brought a unique perspective to every conversation. Her sharp wit ensured her words were always clear, sparing no one from her honest, no-nonsense approach. Yet, her ability to laugh at herself made her the good-natured centerpiece of countless family jokes.
My darling Granny, life will be less vibrant without your sparkling green eyes and cheeky grin. You drove us crazy with your ridiculous requests that ranged from a very specific beach outfit in Mexico to the precise temperature of water for your cup of tea (Scalding, never tepid.) You knew what you wanted and would not tolerate anything less – it was maddening. And we loved you all the more for it. We laughed harder because of it. And we will never get tired of telling your stories because they made an undeniable mark on our lives. As long as we cherish your memory and share your wisdom and humor with those we love, you will remain close to us. I pray we continue to make you proud. Thank you for reminding us how precious our time is in this world – to never settle, live with purpose, and take your faith (and a silk scarf) wherever you go.
Beth is survived by her three loving children, Rebecca Beggs of Post, Chris and Brenda Beggs of Dallas, and Dodie and Tommy Jenkins of Post. She delighted in the joys of her eight grandchildren, Rachel and Kent Mitchell of Austin, Dan and Xane Reiter of Post, Sierra Reiter of Post, Israel Beggs of Post, Mark Norman of Lubbock, Matthew and Kaybren Norman of Tahoka, Jared Beggs of Dallas, and Dylan Beggs of Dallas along with her ten great grandchildren who are just as spirited as their great granny. She also leaves behind her sister, Faye Ruth and Les Brattain of Sun City, Arizona and their two children, Amy & Bill.
Beth’s presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24th, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hudman Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on 2 P.M. Saturday, January 25, at Terrace Cemetery, where friends and family will gather to celebrate Beth’s remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Beth’s honor to the Post Animal Refuge Center (ARC), which can be sent to P.O. Box 13, Post, Texas 79356

I have fond memories of Beth going all the way back to the early 1960s, when I started my career in pharmacy working for her dad at Hamilton Drug. She was so full of energy! She will be missed.

So sorry to learn of Beth's passing! She was my classmate and friend. We started first grade together and spent time having fun at school and on band trips. Prayers for her family.
