Richard Toolin Obituary

Richard Toolin, 81, of Tiverton, passed away at home on Sunday, October 20, 2024. He was the husband of Arlene F. [Fitzgerald] Toolin.







Richard was born on June 6, 1943 in Fall River, MA, the son of the late Thomas A. and Irene [Ferreira] Toolin of Tiverton. He was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School class of 1961. After graduation, Richard served in the US Air Force for 4 years before returning to Tiverton in 1965. Richard worked for the Naval Undersea Warfare Center [NUWC], Newport for 35 years before retiring in December 1999. Richard was an avid sailor; he grew up sailboat racing Candy class boats at the Tiverton Yacht Club and continued to sail throughout his life.







Survivors are his wife of over 35 years, Arlene; a daughter, Wendy Toolin Breau, and her husband Stephen of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; a son, Scott Toolin of Carver, MA.; a brother, Robert Toolin of Tiverton and 2 grandchildren, Chloe and Ella. Additionally, Richard is survived by 3 step children [Arlene's children] John Fitzgerald of Fort Meyers, FL; Laura Coristine of Newport, RI and Shannon Wright of Kansas City, MO; and 6 step grandchildren.
