Brenda Crowder Obituary

Brenda Crowder

August 20, 1958 -

September 2, 2024

Brenda Marie Odell, a devoted mother, wife, sister, and grandmother, passed away on September 2, 2024, at the age of 66, following a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on August 20, 1958, in Orlando, Florida, Brenda was the beloved daughter of William and Elizabeth Odell (née Netzer) of Apopka, Florida.

Brenda is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Bonnie Odell Hoskins and Bette Odell Jeffries, and niece, Mary K. Odell. She was a devoted mother to her two sons, Jason and Christopher, from her first marriage to Stephen Miller, and a caring stepmother to Amanda Hurley from her marriage to Ricky Hurley. Brenda also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Ma. Jolina Miller, and her granddaughter, Acacia Demia Miller, who filled her life with joy. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of her many nieces and nephews.

Brenda's life was marked by her deep love for her family and her passion for caregiving. Her nurturing spirit extended to her work as a residential childcare provider, where she created a loving home environment for many children over the years.

In 2001, Brenda married Lisle Edwin Crowder, with whom she shared a special bond until his passing in 2009. Their relationship was a source of strength and companionship that Brenda carried with her for the rest of her life.

She was known for her love of dramatic and true crime television series, finding comfort and enjoyment in these quiet pastimes.

Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2023, Brenda fought the disease with remarkable courage and dignity, undergoing treatment until June 2024. Despite her strength, she passed away peacefully in early September, surrounded by the love of her family.

In accordance with her wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Those who wish to honor Brenda's memory are encouraged to make donations to the Unicoi County Animal Shelter in her and Lisle's memory, in lieu of flowers.

Brenda will be remembered for her unwavering love, her nurturing spirit, and the many lives she touched with her kindness. She will be deeply missed by her family and all friends who knew her.

she was remarkable and so missed. We were friends since middle school, sleepovers, sharing cloths, sharing secrets, and sharing hopes, aspirations and sharing dreams I was blessed to have her staying with me for our 40th high school reunion. She was a magical presence in my life and I'm so lucky to have been a presence in hers. She believed in love, kindness, and she believed in angels. so, ride high and bright,my angel.

My first memory of Brenda was of getting a plum that was left over from my mom's lunch the day she and Brenda were discharged from the hospital in August of 1958. We have been through a lot together through the years and I will miss her physical presence dearly. But I know I will see her again when I join her, my mom, my brothers, and all my loved ones in heaven. I love you, sweet sister!!

Brenda was one of the first people I met after moving to Tennessee. She was so kind and welcoming and I knew right away what a special person she was! I will always remember Brenda fondly and will always be grateful for her friendship!
