David Barkey Obituary

David Jackson Barkey died peacefully in Fenton, Michigan on September 7, 2024 at the age of 87-years old. David is survived by his brother Richard Barkey of Rochester, Michigan and nieces Lisa Przekop and Jill Barkey-Hill, as well as nine great nieces and
nephews.
David was born in Flint, Michigan on March 22, 1937 to Basil and Carolyn Barkey and grew up in Flint, Michigan, Grosse Pointe, Michigan and Cleveland, Ohio. David graduated from Rocky River High School in Cleveland, Ohio in 1955 and attended Michigan State University. He worked for over thirty years at the Genesee County Treasurer's Office.
David was an active volunteer for the Genesee County Historical Society, The Flint Genealogical Society, as well as the Whaley Historic House Museum in Flint, Michigan. He spent many years volunteering with the Flint Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. David had a deep love of service to his community, his hometown of Flint, Michigan, history, and genealogy. He conducted extensive research on the genealogy of his family which is a treasured gift the family holds dear. Throughout his life, David was an active member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
David will always be remembered for his generous and kind spirit.
Funeral mass was held at St. John Vianney Church, Flint, MI on Thursday, September 12th. Interment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Flint, MI.
Memorials may be made to the Genesee County Historical Society.
