Anne Erdle Obituary

CANANDAIGUA – Anne (Cadogan) Erdle, age 90, passed away at home after a short illness on Monday, October 13, 2025, with her family by her side.

She is survived by three children, James (Mary) Erdle, Jr., Mary (Michael) Broderick, and Linda (Dennis) Judson; eight grandchildren, Andrew Erdle, Ann Erdle, Kathrine (Ben) Mitchell, Barbara (Scott) Welch, Kelly Broderick, Michelle (Nick) Payne, Brianna (Alex) Dougherty and Alyssa (Kory) Barnhart; seven great-grandchildren, Rylan, Kallie, Lincoln, Colin, Grace, Meredith, Anya and soon-to-be baby Payne.

She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, James R. Erdle, Sr. in 2018; five siblings, Edward Cadogan, Eileen Cadogan, Agnes Bird, Joan Cossaboon and Noreen Rose; son-in-law, Brad Shepard; daughter-in-law, Lauri Erdle; and great-grandson, Kooper Barnhart.

Anne was born in Rochester and was the daughter of John and Estelle (Koberlein) Cadogan and was the youngest of six children. After graduation from Our Lady of Mercy High School and the Rochester Business Institute, Anne worked at Eastman Kodak Company until her marriage to Jim in 1959. She then worked as a secretary for Jim's business, Kwik Kafe of the Finger Lakes, and was also a devoted homemaker, raising her family. Anne was a dedicated member of St. Mary's Church.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, October 20, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua, N.Y. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Canandaigua, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, masses may be offered in her memory to St. Mary's Church for St. Benedict Parish, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua, N.Y. 14424 or memorial contributions may be made to Light Hill (comfort care home), 5160 Parrish St. Ext., Canandaigua, N.Y. 14424.
