Camille J. (Carta) Salamone, 83, of Middletown, wife of Paul J. Salamone, died Tuesday October 8, 2024 at Water’s Edge Health and Rehabilitation.
Camille was born on September 8, 1941, in Middletown, the daughter of the late Carmelo and Jennie (Rosano) Carta. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, class of 1960. Prior to her retirement, she was the Registrar of Vital Statistics for the City of Middletown for 32 years.

Camille was an excellent cook and shared many beautiful meals with those she loved. Most of all, she treasured spending time with her grandchildren and could often be seen at Xavier attending events for Vincent and Nicholas.

Salamone and his wife Christina of Higganum, four grandchildren Maya, Vincent, Cole, and Nicholas Salamone, sisters Rose Marie Hajek of SC and MaryAnn and her husband Cos Giuffrida of Middletown, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Virginia Pandolfo.

Sadden to learn of Camille's passing. We got to know each other back in 1956 and graduated together. Throughout the decades, we connected when I had to file, get records from Vital Statistics . She ALWAYS had a smile and warm greetings. It was always refreshing to see each other and to catch up on the events in our lives. I consider myself fortunate to have known her and friendship. May each of her family members find renewed Hope and Peace during this difficult time. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers but especially Camille.

Paul and Family,
I am so sorry to hear about Camille. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you go through this difficult time. She was a wonderful lady, and I will miss her dearly. I worked at DPH-Vital Records for 30+ years and spoke with Camille almost on a daily basis. We became very good friends, even meeting outside of the offices often for dinner. I know her family was everything to her and I know your hearts are heavy. Again, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I believe she was a playground counselor back in the day, she instructed us how to make potholders, and she also played canasta with us. Indeed special.
